There's something special about the little red schoolhouse on the south end of Mercer Island.
Our growing kiddos are lucky enough to call Sunnybeam their school thanks to the hundreds of families that have preceded ours since that first class in 1957.
Sunnybeam is a nonprofit preschool that has always relied on family volunteers and generous donations to help manage the day-to-day operations, maintain the grounds and historical building, and establish funds that are put towards new toys, educational activities, and hiring and retaining our incredible teachers who provide a caring and supportive learning environment for our little ones. Tuition alone does not nearly cover these things, so we rely heavily on auction proceeds to invest in our school.
Our goal this year is to raise $75,000. This would allow us to achieve our financial operations commitments and give us the opportunity to refresh and update the beloved Science Room. If your child has come home talking about how owls regurgitate food, wanting to build a bat cave, or was adamant about saving the pumpkin guts during Halloween to watch them decompose, that's because the Science Room at Sunnybeam is a very special place where Caterpillars and Butterflies learn, and their imaginations are encouraged to run wild.
Every contribution you make helps to preserve and better this very special school for our children and for the next 60 years.
We couldn't do it without you and we look forward to celebrating together March 4th!
